Midweek Mindfulness: Comparison

{Midweek Mindfulness.} I consider the manner of my thoughts. 💭💭 Sorting through the clutter and crowd of , I detect a culprit. Comparison. Sneaky bitch. She comes in many forms: the impossibly fit Lululemon clad Gisele to my left, who never wipes a drop of sweat from her brow. 🙎🏼And to top it off, she’s actually really sweet and cool. Or, the Pinterest Parent of the year who is like MacGyver with popsicle sticks and pipe cleaners as my singular potted plant withers away from neglect. 🌱

Sweet friends, comparison kills. First it kills confidence. A mind that measures your self to others is not only unhealthy, it’s unholy. God’s desire is for us to see our value in Him. Remember, we are His #divinedesign; the product of His hands. As we take hold of this beautiful truth, our thoughts can readily turn towards loving each other instead of comparing ourselves to one another. We cannot freely share one another’s burdens, lift each other up, and reflect God’s light, if we are stuck in a comparison thought trap. Comparison also kills compassion. We love Him more therefore we love others more. Cultivate a compassionate mindset.

And my prayer is that it not merely be a mantra to mix some #selflove in your soul. That’s incomplete. We can’t fix our deepest insecurities, fears, doubts and shame with a shallow buzzword. HE can, however, cure that #comparisonnculprit, and transform our distorted views of self and worth with His deep and everlasting love. May we let the #greatestlove He pours out, clean out the comparison clutter today.

Be well. Love well. 💓💓💓

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” {Galatians 6:4-5) #discoverYOURdivinedesign
